Per LMR, thus far for Friday in the Southern Plains region negotiated cash trade has been at standstill. In the Western Cornbelt and Nebraska negotiated cash trade was slow on light demand, however not enough purchases for a market trend. Last week in the Southern Plains live FOB purchases traded at 172.00. In Nebraska live FOB purchases traded at 173.00 and dressed delivered purchases from 272.00-275.00. In the Western Cornbelt live FOB purchases traded at 175.00 and dressed delivered purchases at 275.00.
Friday afternoon boxed beef values were reported with Choice 0.79 lower at 295.50 and Select 0.71lower at 283.05 with a Choice/Select spread of 12.45 on 111 loads. The hide and offal value from a typical slaughter steer for today was estimated at $11.66/CWT Live, unchanged Cattle slaughter for Friday was estimated at 121,000. Weekending Saturday, January 20, 2024, Cattle slaughter was estimated at 617,000, up 71,000 from the previous week.
