CATTLE TRADE REPORT
Negotiated cash trade remained at a standstill in the Texas Panhandle, while Kansas, Nebraska, and the Western Cornbelt saw light trade and demand. A few live FOB purchases in Kansas traded at $199.00, while dressed delivered purchases in Nebraska were at $315.00. However, these limited transactions were not enough to establish a full market trend. Last week, live FOB purchases averaged $203.00, while dressed sales in Nebraska and the Western Cornbelt ranged from $320.00-$321.00.
Negotiated sales were higher than last week but still significantly lower than last year, with 9,021 head confirmed, compared to 4,709 last week and 23,136 a year ago. Live basis steers over 80% Choice traded between $199.00-$200.00, averaging $199.46, while heifers averaged $199.05. Dressed basis transactions were uniform at $315.00 across all grades. Meanwhile, formula purchases priced 35,400 head at an average net price of $326.76 with a weighted average weight of 922 lbs. Packers continue to hold firm on bids, likely aiming to cheapen cattle costs as margins remain under pressure.
