Boxed beef prices on April 1st have steadily climbed from a low of $135.84 in 2009 to a record high of $342.22 in 2025, representing a 152% increase over 16 years. Prices first broke above the $200 mark in 2014 at $232.54 and have remained above that level every year since. A significant early high came in 2015 at $255.42, followed by a drop to $213.43 in 2017, before beginning a steady multi-year rise. Since 2018, prices have increased each year, with momentum accelerating notably in the past two years. The jump from $305.74 in 2024 to $342.22 in 2025 marks the largest year-over-year gain in more than a decade.
