Detailed Summary:

...CONUS...

The CONUS will be very quiet during the medium range period (Monday, October 10 - Friday, October 14). No hazard areas are projected at this time due to uncertainties surrounding heavy rainfall at the end of next week. A fairly stagnant upper-level pattern with ridging in the West and troughing in the East will give way as shortwave energy dips down into the lower 48 from Canada next week and amplifies a trough across the central U.S..

Above average temperatures are expected over the Northern/Central Plains and Upper Midwest next Tuesday out ahead of the deepening trough. Showers will focus along a cold front moving across the Midwest and Great Lakes on Wednesday and Thursday. There's a chance for heavy rainfall to develop over portions of the interior Northeast next Thursday and Friday, but there's too much model uncertainty to reflect that with a hazard area at this time.

...Alaska...

A deep area of low pressure will arrive over the western mainland coast and far eastern Aleutians on Monday. High winds, heavy rain and significant waves are expected along the southwestern coast on Monday as a result. A substantial fetch of moisture will flow along an axis of surface low pressure extending into the Gulf Coast mid-to-late next week. This will lead to heavy precipitation across the southeast coast into the Panhandle between Wednesday and Friday.
