US Senator John Barrasso advocates that the Second Amendment is freedom’s safeguard and plans to protect those rights for Law-Abiding Americans
Every day, people across Wyoming responsibly exercise their Second Amendment rights to keep and bear arms. I, Senator John Barrasso, will always stand up to protect the rights of Wyoming gun owners.
Last week, I went to the U.S. Senate floor to do just that. The Senate Democratic majority attempted to pass a bill to impose a federal assault weapons ban. I objected and blocked the passage of S.25, the Assault Weapons Ban of 2023. A video of my remarks is below.
We all agree on the need to stop crime and keep our communities safe. This bill would not do anything to provide the security needed across our nation. It simply takes away the rights of law-abiding Americans. These types of gun control measures jeopardize our constitutional rights to protect our homes and families.
At a young age, my father taught me how to properly handle and shoot firearms. Those experiences and lessons gave me the deepest respect for responsible gun ownership. I will continue to vigorously fight against any policies that threaten our Second Amendment rights.
Best Regards,
John Barrasso, M.D.
United States Senator
