Corn sales up noticeably from last week;  Beef sales down 14%

Wheat:  Net sales of 82,000 metric tons (MT) for 2023/2024 were down noticeably from the previous week and down 4 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases primarily for China (72,200 MT, including 65,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Guatemala (21,100 MT switched from El Salvador), Indonesia (20,100 MT, including 22,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 1,900 MT), Ecuador (20,000 MT), and Honduras (13,800 MT, including decreases of 900 MT), were offset by reductions for unknown destinations (98,000 MT), El Salvador (20,600 MT), and the Leeward-Windward Islands (9,500 MT). Net sales of 371,900 MT for 2024/2025 were primarily for the Philippines (82,000 MT), unknown destinations (65,000 MT), South Korea (50,000 MT), Mexico (35,100 MT), and Japan (34,300 MT). Exports of 573,900 MT were up 18 percent from the previous week and 13 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to China (136,200 MT), the Philippines (131,200 MT), Japan (91,900 MT), Mexico (65,900 MT), and the Dominican Republic (33,700 MT).

Corn:  Net sales of 1,299,900 MT for 2023/2024 were up noticeably from the previous week and up 74 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases primarily for Mexico (390,500 MT, including decreases of 10,100 MT), South Korea (252,000 MT, including 65,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 1,900 MT), Japan (233,200 MT, including 110,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 4,200 MT), Saudi Arabia (142,400 MT), and Taiwan (140,700 MT, including 68,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and 65,000 MT switched from China), were offset by reductions for unknown destinations (219,400 MT) and China (4,700 MT). Net sales of 262,300 MT for 2024/2025 were reported for Mexico (254,000 MT), Japan (8,000 MT), and Honduras (300 MT). Exports of 1,709,200 MT--a marketing-year high--were up 11 percent from the previous week and 14 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to Mexico (596,800 MT), Japan (203,500 MT, including 52,600 MT - late), Colombia (141,000 MT), Taiwan (140,000 MT), and South Korea (131,500 MT). 

Late Reporting:  For 2023/2024, exports totaling 52,600 MT of corn were late to Japan.  

Barley:  No net sales or exports were reported for the week. 

Sorghum:  Net sales of 38,000 MT for 2023/2024 were down noticeably from the previous week, but up 64 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for unknown destinations (30,000 MT) and China (8,000 MT, including decreases of 600 MT). Exports of 144,900 MT were up 90 percent from the previous week and 53 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destination was China.

Rice:  Net sales of 36,700 MT for 2023/2024 were up noticeably from the previous week, but down 36 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases primarily for Mexico (27,200 MT), Haiti (7,200 MT), Honduras (1,200 MT), Canada (800 MT), and Belgium (200 MT), were offset by reductions for Japan (300 MT). Total net sales of 5,000 MT for 2024/2025 were for Guatemala. Exports of 85,600 MT were up 68 percent from the previous week and 15 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to Mexico (36,900 MT), Nicaragua (28,400 MT), Haiti (7,200 MT), Honduras (6,200 MT), and Canada (3,000 MT).

Soybeans:  Net sales of 210,900 MT for 2023/2024 were down 57 percent from the previous week and 29 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases primarily for China (167,500 MT, including 200,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 37,800 MT), Mexico (87,800 MT, including decreases of 2,300 MT), Indonesia (67,500 MT, including 55,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 1,200 MT), Vietnam (6,200 MT, including decreases of 100 MT), and Colombia (6,200 MT, including 6,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), were offset by reductions for unknown destinations (136,800 MT), Egypt (3,000 MT), and Canada (100 MT). Net sales of 120,100 MT for 2024/2025 were reported for Mexico (108,000 MT), Thailand (10,000 MT), Taiwan (2,000 MT), and Japan (100 MT). Exports of 417,500 MT were down 13 percent from the previous week and 26 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to China (222,100 MT), Indonesia (73,700 MT), Mexico (73,100 MT), Colombia (12,500 MT), and Taiwan (9,900 MT).  

Exports for Own Account:  For 2023/2024, the current exports for own account outstanding balance of 3,300 MT are for Canada (1,400 MT), Taiwan (900 MT), Bangladesh (500 MT), and Malaysia (500 MT).  

Soybean Cake and Meal:  Net sales of 307,900 MT for 2023/2024 were up noticeably from the previous week and up 90 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases primarily for the Philippines (140,500 MT, including decreases of 100 MT), Ecuador (53,000 MT), Vietnam (49,900 MT, including 50,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 100 MT), Venezuela (37,500 MT, including 6,000 MT switched from Colombia and decreases of 5,000 MT), and Guatemala (32,300 MT), were offset by reductions for unknown destinations (82,500 MT), Costa Rica (9,700 MT), Belgium (1,200 MT), Japan (900 MT), and Burma (500 MT). Net sales of 35,100 MT for 2024/2025 were reported for Canada (28,900 MT) and Mexico (6,200 MT). Exports of 189,900 MT were down 46 percent from the previous week and 36 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to Colombia (41,000 MT), Mexico (38,400 MT), Morocco (27,200 MT), Canada (19,900 MT), and Panama (19,300 MT).

Soybean Oil:  Net sales of 16,200 MT for 2023/2024 were up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average. Increases reported for Colombia (12,000 MT), the Dominican Republic (3,500 MT), Venezuela (2,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), and Mexico (700 MT), were offset by reductions for unknown destinations (2,000 MT). Exports of 3,000 MT were up 84 percent from the previous week, but down 49 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to Venezuela (2,000 MT) and Mexico (800 MT).

Cotton:  Net sales of Upland totaling 177,100 RB for 2023/2024 were up 21 percent from the previous week and 73 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily for China (94,700 RB, including decreases of 500 RB), Pakistan (26,800 RB, including decreases of 100 RB), Vietnam (14,200 RB, including 100 RB switched from Japan and decreases of 1,000 RB), Turkey (9,700 RB), and Taiwan (5,500 RB). Net sales of 65,700 RB for 2024/2025 were primarily for China (22,000 RB), Honduras (12,100 RB), Turkey (11,000 RB), Mexico (10,000 RB), and Guatemala (4,900 RB). Exports of 261,700 RB were down 2 percent from the previous week and 18 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to China (99,800 RB), Pakistan (39,100 RB), Turkey (27,000 RB), Vietnam (24,900 RB), and Bangladesh (24,600 RB). Net sales of Pima totaling 12,500 RB for 2023/2024 were up noticeably from the previous week and up 94 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily for Vietnam (5,200 RB), China (4,500 RB), India (2,300 RB, including decreases of 300 RB), Guatemala (200 RB), and Germany (100 RB). Exports of 10,100 RB were up 73 percent from the previous week and 29 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to China (3,800 RB), India (3,700 RB), Peru (1,300 RB), Turkey (800 RB), and Pakistan (400 RB).

Optional Origin Sales:  For 2023/2024, the current outstanding balance of 4,400 RB, all Bangladesh. For 2024/2025, the current outstanding balance of 8,800 RB, all Pakistan. 

Exports for Own Account:  For 2023/2024, new exports for own account totaling 700 RB were to China. The current exports for own account outstanding balance of 67,900 RB are for China (44,600 RB), Vietnam (14,700 RB), Pakistan (5,000 RB), South Korea (2,400 RB), and Turkey (1,200 RB).

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 575,100 pieces for 2024 were up 72 percent from the previous week and 70 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases primarily for China (393,500 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 7,700 pieces), South Korea (72,300 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 1,200 pieces), Mexico (45,300 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 2,100 pieces), Thailand (37,900 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 800 pieces), and Italy (12,900 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 1,800 pieces), were offset by reductions for Indonesia (3,200 pieces) and Taiwan (1,200 pieces). In addition, net sales reductions of 1,700 kip skins were reported for Belgium (1,100 kip skins) and China (600 kip skins). Exports of 423,900 pieces were up 31 percent from the previous week and 22 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hides exports were primarily to China (233,000 pieces), Mexico (65,800 pieces), South Korea (44,900 pieces), Thailand (31,100 pieces), and Brazil (23,300 pieces).

Net sales of 81,100 wet blues for 2024 were down 67 percent from the previous week and 47 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases primarily for Vietnam (28,100 unsplit), Italy (23,700 unsplit, including decreases of 200 unsplit and 100 grain splits), Thailand (12,500 unsplit), China (9,800 unsplit), and Brazil (4,100 unsplit, including decreases of 100 unsplit), were offset by reductions for Taiwan (100 unsplit). Exports of 130,500 wet blues were down 5 percent from the previous week and 1 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to Vietnam (27,600 unsplit), China (26,200 unsplit), Italy (18,400 unsplit and 1,500 grain splits), Brazil (14,100 unsplit and 2,000 grain splits), and Thailand (15,400 unsplit). Total net sales of 1,100 splits, including decreases of 700 pounds, were for Vietnam. No exports of splits were reported for the week. 

Beef:  Net sales of 15,200 MT for 2024 were down 14 percent from the previous week and 3 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily for China (4,600 MT, including decreases of 200 MT), Japan (2,500 MT, including decreases of 200 MT), Canada (2,000 MT), South Korea (1,900 MT, including decreases of 500 MT), and Mexico (1,500 MT, including decreases of 100 MT). Exports of 13,800 MT were down 17 percent from the previous week and 5 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to South Korea (3,400 MT), Japan (3,100 MT), China (2,400 MT), Mexico (1,500 MT), and Taiwan (1,000 MT).

Pork:  Net sales of 28,800 MT for 2024 were up 32 percent from the previous week, but down 25 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily for Mexico (11,300 MT, including decreases of 300 MT), Japan (4,200 MT, including decreases of 200 MT), South Korea (3,300 MT, including decreases of 1,400 MT), China (2,400 MT, including decreases of 100 MT), and Colombia (1,700 MT). Exports of 40,000 MT were down 4 percent from the previous week, but up 9 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to Mexico (16,200 MT), Japan (5,500 MT), South Korea (5,400 MT), China (3,400 MT), and Canada (2,100 MT).
