The United States produced 7.2 billion pounds of cotton in 2020.
 
 Harvested area, at 8.51 million acres, was down 25 percent from the previous year. In Kansas, planted and harvested area were at record highs, while California and New Mexico recorded a record low for harvested acres. Record high yields were estimated in Arkansas for 2020.

U.S. farmers produced 819,342 pounds of cotton every hour and 228 pounds every second in 2020.
