Soybean production up 16% from last year

Soybean production in 2020 totaled 4.14 billion bushels, up 16 percent from 2019. The average yield per acre was estimated at 50.2 bushels, up 2.8 bushels from 2019. Harvested area was up 10 percent from 2019 to 82.3 million acres.

Iowa produced 493.96 million bushels of soybeans in 2020, down 7.64 million bushels from the prior year.

Illinois produced 604.75 million bushels of soybeans in 2020, up 72.3 million bushels from the prior year.
