SITZ Angus: Breeding Excellence, Forging a Legacy
Creating Eye-Appealing, Real-World Cattle with Economic Relevance
Ranching is a Way of Life
SITZ Angus has a long and storied history, spanning 95 years and four generations of the SITZ family. Ranching is more than just a livelihood; it's a way of life filled with pride in what they do. At SITZ Angus, the quest is to produce cattle that the SITZ brand and family are proud to have carrying their legacy. "The Look" is of paramount importance at SITZ Angus. Their bulls are meticulously bred to be stout, wide-based, muscular, with ample body length, substantial testicles, and sturdy hooves. The females are expected to possess qualities like good udders, deep bodies, broodiness, and femininity.
Every breeding and management decision at SITZ Angus is anchored in the core principles of producing Seedstock genetically programmed to be profitable in every segment of the beef industry. These principles, instilled 95 years ago, have stood the test of time and continue to be a guiding force.
Maternally Productive Females
SITZ Angus has earned a reputation for producing maternally productive females—cows that are fertile, raise robust calves, and do so without trouble year after year. These females are expected to thrive in any environment, equipped with the body capacity and fleshing ability necessary to be productive even in resource-limited conditions.
Excellence Downstream
SITZ Angus doesn't just stop at producing quality breeding stock. Their breeding philosophy extends to excel downstream in the beef industry, from the Feeding Sector to the final product on the Rail. This means rapid growth, desirable feed conversions, and carcasses that command premiums rather than discounts.
This breeding philosophy calls for discipline and a balanced trait approach. SITZ Angus is dedicated to utilizing genetics that excel across multiple traits, avoiding the temptation to focus on single-trait excellence at the expense of overall performance.
