Red Angus Foundation Inc. Offers Pick of Feddes Red Angus Heifer Crop
Denver — The annual Red Angus Foundation Inc. fundraising auction will be held Thursday, Sept. 15 during the National Red Angus Convention to be held Sept. 14-16 in Kalispell, Montana. A featured auction item will be a "Pick of the Herd" from the Feddes Red Angus herd.
The Feddes family has graciously donated the pick of their 2021 and 2022 heifers. The Feddes family, based in Manhattan, Montana, has been in the cattle business for more than 75 years, and has bred Red Angus for the past three decades. By using balanced-trait sires in AI and ET programs, they have built a great cow herd. They focus on raising bulls for commercial customers that produce heavy-weaning calves and problem-free females.
Auction proceeds will benefit the RAFI Research and Development Fund. Donations, memorial contributions and fundraising assistance empower RAFI to support junior programs and advance the Red Angus breed's position in the industry through research and development. The auction donations will help RAFI finance meaningful research projects that allow U.S. land-grant universities to conduct valuable beef cattle research.
"The Red Angus Foundation auction is always a high point of the National Red Angus Convention," said Tom Brink, Red Angus Association of America CEO. "The enthusiasm of donors and supporters for the Red Angus breed is tremendous, and garners attention and active bidding in the support of RAFI's very worthwhile mission."
In addition to the "Pick of the Herd," bidders will vie for other outstanding lots including a handmade squash blossom necklace, Denver Broncos tickets, unique artwork, cattle supplies and two registration passes for the Florida Cattlemen's Convention. DVAuction will manage the online auction, which will be a horse-race type auction.
