In 2023, the United States is anticipated to set a new record by importing a projected 3.71 billion pounds of beef, marking the highest ever in a single year. Looking ahead to 2024, beef imports are forecasted to reach 3.77 billion pounds, further establishing a new record peak.

As of November 2023, the U.S. has already imported 3.13 billion pounds of beef, showcasing a 7.9% increase compared to 2022. Complete year-end data will be available next month, providing a comprehensive overview.

Canada has emerged as the primary source of U.S. beef imports in 2023, trailed by Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Uruguay, and Nicaragua. Cumulatively, the United States has imported over 100 billion pounds of beef from each of these nations.

Notably, U.S. beef imports from Australia have surged by an impressive 52% in 2023. Conversely, imports from Mexico have witnessed an 11% decline during the same period.
