Herndon Farms

Herndon Farms is a registered Charolais, Brangus and Ultrablack operation located in Lyons, Georgia, which is in the southeastern part of the state.
The operation is owned by Bo and Gill Herndon and they are joined by their daughters Megan, Jordy and Sky. Cobus Coetzee, Kevin Asbury and Sky Herndon manage the registered and commercial operations.
As a child, Bo was influenced by two cowmen, his grandfather and uncle. It was that influence that drew him to the cattle business. He first purchased some Charolais cattle, as his uncle had raised those and added a neighbor’s small Brangus herd. Then in 2014, Bo attended The Oaks Farms’ Brangus Sale with the intent to just buy a bull for his small herd. He went home with a bull, but he also went home with a desire to do more with his cattle program and become a seedstock producer.
Fast forward to today and there’s over 600 registered Brangus and Charolais and 400 head of commercial cattle. The program has selected top donors in each breed and has an extensive ET and AI program. They have added high quality genetics from respected outfits across the breeds and select for desirable phenotypes, proven genotypes and top ranking EPD data. There are plans to expand their numbers across the board and become a major supplier of high quality cattle. Look for their annual Best of the South Bull Sale the 4th weekend in October.
In addition to the cattle, the Herndon family owns Herndon Country Farms, a produce growing, packing and shipping company.
They grow, pack and ship kale, turnips, collard and mustard greens, chards, sweet potatoes and sweet corn, plus they also grow field corn and soybeans. And they have Vidalias Finest, which is the largest Vidalia Onion operation in the nation. Bo started Herndon Country Farms, with one tractor, a small piece of land and a few hogs in 1979. It continues to be a family operation, as Bo’s nephew Jason manages it, and a number of family members are involved in running the business. You can learn more about their produce and farming industries at www.vidaliasfinest.com.
The Herndon Family invites you to visit them in Georgia. They would love to share conversations about your operation, the cattle industry and they would love to show you the individual cattle they’ve assembled for their progressive and high quality seedstock operation.
