The Beef Cattle Short Course will be a two-day event hosted by Penn State Extension with support from the Pennsylvania Beef Producers Working Group. This year’s emphasis for the program will be on marketing the final product of our production chain—beef. The event will begin with an evaluation of live cattle. Participants will be walked through a class of cattle and outline expectations of that class on the rail. Following the live cattle evaluation, the guest speakers and workshops will be introduced and will allow participants to become more comfortable with feed concepts for cattle. Finally, the cattle that were evaluated live on day one will be evaluated hanging on the rail on day two. An expert in the field will talk about the yield and quality of each animal and demonstrate breaking down the carcass.
Dinner is provided on day one. Lunch will be provided on days one and two.
This event has been partially sponsored by the Pennsylvania Beef Producers Working Group.
Space is limited - preregistration is required.
