A Positive Week for the Beef Industry Concerning Trade

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA., Jan. 17, 2020 – The Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association applaud the signing of a Phase-One trade agreement with China and the U.S. Senate vote to ratify the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). “This week has been really positive for the Oklahoma beef industry on the trade front. First, phase one with China and yesterday the final legislative step forward with the US, Mexico, Canada Agreement,” said Mike Weeks, President of the OCA. “Trade is so very important to growing the Oklahoma beef cattle industry. Adding value to each and every product of the beef animal increases the overall value that we can receive for feeders and fed cattle. We know that trade adds over $300 to each fed animal. With these two agreements, we can continue to grow the overall value of each calf.”
