Please consider joining a policy committee and contributing your voice to important industry discussions. No policy experience is necessary - just the willingness to learn and get involved. We have openings on the following committees: 


Marketing & Competition Committee
  • Responsibilities: Tackle marketing and competition issues, including, but not limited to, modernizing mandatory price reforming, updating the Packers & Stockyards Act, implementing the Farmer Fair Practices Rules, and modernizing CME futures contracts. 
  • Time Requirement: monthly teleconference committee meetings. Frequency of committee meetings dependent on current issues and policy priorities. 
Checkoff Committee 
  • Responsibilities: Work towards needed changes within the Beef Checkoff program, including the complete separation of the Federation from the Checkoff. Identify projects worthy to pursue within the Beef Checkoff program funding process. 
  • Time Requirement: monthly teleconference committee meetings. This committee is most active in the spring and summer as Beef Checkoff funding proposals are considered.
Independent Beef Processors Committee
  • Responsibilities: Identify regulatory and legislative changes needed to ensure success for the independent processor. 
  • Time Requirement: monthly teleconference committee meetings and review policy proposals as needed. 
Trade Committee  
  • Responsibilities: Protect the health of the domestic herd health by tracking beef imports from FMD-at-risk countries, monitor any other trade-related issues.
  • Time Requirement: monthly teleconference committee meetings.
Labeling Committee 
  • Responsibilities: Promote truth in labeling on U.S. beef products, to include both the reestablishment of a country-of-origin labeling program and proper labeling of alternative proteins. 
  • Time Requirement: monthly teleconference committee meetings. 
Animal Health and ID Committee 
  • Responsibilities: Liaisons between USDA, Congress and the Administration on animal health related issues, including the creation of a FMD vaccine bank, requesting additional resources to fight Cattle Fever Tick, and much more. This committee will also work to identify and present a workable animal ID solution.
  • Time Requirement: monthly teleconference committee meetings. May require additional time as issues arise, especially time-sensitive issues. 
Transportation Committee 
  • Responsibilities: Work with FMCSA and Congress to reform the restrict Hours-of-Service rules for livestock haulers. 
  • Time Requirement: monthly teleconference committee meetings. Additional time needed to gain support for USCA transportation priorities. 
Health and Nutrition Committee 
  • Responsibilities: Promote U.S. beef in the 2025 Dietary Guidelines process. 
  • Time Requirement: monthly teleconference committee meetings. As the 2025 Dietary Guidelines process advances, more time may be needed. 
Membership Committee 
  • Responsibilities: Brainstorm, implement, and carry-out activities geared towards expanding USCA membership. Work on redesigning the USCA website. 
  • Time Requirement: monthly teleconference committee meetings. This is the most time-intensive committee.
