Limousin Cattle on Display at 2022 Cattlemen’s Congress in Oklahoma City

Limousin and Lim-Flex breeders were under the bright lights at the Cattlemen’s Congress to showcase their genetics. The Level 1 Medal of Excellence Limousin Show was held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 in Oklahoma City. Chad Holtkamp, Iowa, evaluated the 122 females and 33 bulls.

The Grand Champion Limousin Female was DL Hush Money 502H exhibited by Sara Sullivan, Dunlap, Iowa. She is a February 4, 2020, 65% Lim-Flex female sired by ELCX Kings Landing 599 D ET. This female was first named Division five champion.

Colton Barton, Jarrell, Texas, exhibited the Reserve champion Limousin Female. COBN Hennessy 022H is a June 4, 2020, 77% Limousin female sired by TASF Crow Royal 960C ET. This heifer came from Division four.

In the bull show, RATLIFF Jump Start 340J ET was named Grand Champion Limousin Bull. He is a February 4, 2021, 84% Limousin Bull sired by FWLY Can Do. This bull was exhibited by Ratliff Cattle Westphalia, Kan., and was Division two champion.

The Reserve Champion Limousin Bull was AUTO How It’s Done 1219H, a March 1, 2020, 50% Lim-Flex bull sired by Colburn Primo 5153. This bull came from Division five and was exhibited by Pinegar Limousin and Circle R Ranch, Springfield, Mo.

At the conclusion of the show, the premier breeder award went to Madison Ratliff, Westphalia, Kan. The premier exhibitor award went to Parkinson Cattle Company, Levelland, Texas.

During the week of Cattlemen’s Congress, exhibitors nominate candidates and vote for the Herdsman of the Year Award. The 2022 Limousin herdsman winner was Chase Ratliff, Westphalia, Kan.
