Hats Off! Poky Feeders’ Joe Morgan Inducted into the 2025 Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame
Celebrating a remarkable career spanning over 50 years in the cattle feeding industry, Joe Morgan, CEO of Poky Feeders, has been honored with induction into the 2025 Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame. This prestigious recognition celebrates his dedication, vision, and transformative contributions to the cattle industry.
After earning a degree in Animal Science from Iowa State University in 1973, Morgan began his journey in cattle feeding. By 1983, he was managing his first feedyard near Omaha, and two years later, he moved to Garden City, KS, to lead Poky Feeders. Under his leadership, Poky Feeders expanded from a 17,000-head feedyard to a 103,000-head capacity, 95% of which are customer cattle. The company now boasts partnerships in leased feedyards across Kansas and Nebraska, along with significant ranch holdings.
Morgan's influence extends far beyond Poky Feeders. A long-standing member of the Kansas Livestock Association and NCBA, he played a pivotal role in founding US Premium Beef, serving on its board since 2007 and currently as Vice Chairman. His leadership also guided Poky Feeders into diversification, from a sow unit in pork production to investments in long-term healthcare and memory care facilities throughout the Midwest.
Joe’s legacy is one of innovation, resilience, and leadership. His son, Grant Morgan, continues the family’s commitment to excellence by managing Poky Feeders. Hats Off! to Joe Morgan for his profound impact on the cattle industry and for inspiring generations to come.
