On Friday, the barn posted 35 all-time barn records, along with 28 Iowa state records and an incredible 9 national records, making it a day that will be remembered for generations in the cattle industry.

That’s the only way you can describe this market,” Wall said, as he covered the price shockwaves that followed Friday’s sale.

New all-time high prices were established for 3-, 4-, 5-, 6-, 7-, 8-, 9- and 10-weight steers, highlighting the depth of demand across all classes. The auction also set Iowa state price records in the 3-, 4-, 5-, 7-, 8-, 9-, and 10-weight classes, underscoring the unprecedented value achieved across a wide range of weights.   Most notably, Dunlap achieved a rare and remarkable feat—setting new all-time U.S. highs for 4-, 5-, and 8-weight steers, a distinction few barns ever achieve, even in today’s record-setting environment.

On that day alone, Dunlap Livestock delivered a historic run of 7-weight steers that reset the barn’s internal record books. Seven of the ten highest 7-weight steer prices ever recorded at Dunlap were set, including a full sweep of the top five all-time slots. The standout trade? 66 head weighing 701 lbs brought $385.50/cwt, now the 6th highest 7-weight price in U.S. history.
