Beef imports remain unchanged at 4.77 billion pounds, the highest on record, continuing to add to overall beef supply.
Total beef supply is projected at 32.009 billion pounds, up 762 million pounds from last month. With record imports, this would be the 4th highest beef supply ever recorded, just behind the 2022 record of 32.49 billion pounds.
Domestic beef consumption is projected at 28.624 billion pounds, up 552 million pounds from last month. This would be the third highest on record, but it’s important to note that domestic consumption is not a measure of demand—it is simply what remains after subtracting exports from total supply.
Pork production is projected at 28.545 billion pounds, up 20 million pounds from last month. If realized, this will be the largest annual pork production ever recorded.
Broiler (chicken) production is projected at 47.115 billion pounds, unchanged from last month. If realized, this would be the highest chicken production in history.
Total red meat and poultry production is projected at 108.012 billion pounds, up 0.648 billion pounds from last month. If realized, this would mark the highest total red meat and poultry production ever recorded.
Steer prices are projected at $201/cwt, up $5 from last month, and significantly higher than $187.12 in 2024 (+$13.88) and $175.54 in 2023 (+$25.46), showing continued price strength despite record beef supply.
Egg prices are projected at $4.44/dozen, a massive increase from $2.94 last month (+$1.50), $3.03 in 2024 (+$1.41), and $1.92 in 2023 (+$2.52), reflecting ongoing volatility in the egg market.
