Boxed beef kicked off 2025 with strong momentum, opening the year at $323.48 on January 2nd. That early strength pushed prices higher through mid-month, reaching $334.14 on January 15th — the first key milestone of the year.
However, bullish sentiment soon faded. A steady slide followed, culminating in a year-to-date low of $310.77 on February 21st, marking a correction of nearly 7.0% from the mid-January peak.
The rebound since then has been striking. After climbing through March, boxed beef broke to a new high of $342.22 on April 1st, the highest level of the year and a full $31.45 recovery off the February low.
By Friday, April 11th, the price settled at $334.22, down $8.00 from the April high. While off the peak, the market still holds onto most of its gains, suggesting bullish fundamentals remain intact — but buyers may be showing signs of hesitation after the spring run-up.
