Tuesday marked a historic day in the cattle markets, with record-setting weighted average prices across the board for heavy feeders. All-time highs were reached for 8-, 9-, and 10-weight steers, posting staggering averages that once seemed out of reach:

These unprecedented averages are now the highest ever recorded nationally, underscoring just how strong the feeder market has become.
Kimball Livestock Exchange (Kimball, SD) delivered a landmark performance on Tuesday, setting 14 all-time barn records across multiple weight classes โ including the two highest 8-weight steer prices ever recorded at the barn. Leading the way was a massive string of 249 head averaging 838 lbs that brought $331.00 โ now the 5th highest price all-time in South Dakota and 14th nationally. Even more impressively, it stands as the highest price ever paid in both South Dakota and the U.S. for an 8-weight string of 100 head or more, making it one of the most remarkable 8-weight sales in U.S. history.
Kimball also rewrote the record books for 10-weight steers, posting the top five highest prices ever at the barn. Headlining the day was 115 head at 1,050 lbs selling for $305.10, followed closely by 267 head at 1,059 lbs for $300.25 โ both now standing as the top two national records for 10-weight steers (10 head or more), and the first ever to break the $300.00/cwt barrier. Additional standout sales included 269 head at $295.75, 126 head at $292.85, and 107 head at $291.50, cementing Kimballโs Tuesday run as one of the most historic heavyweight offerings on record.
Beaver County Stockyards (Beaver, OK) delivered a historic run on Tuesday, setting new all-time barn records for 7-, 9-, and 10-weight steers. Notable sales included:

๐ 111 head at 1,010 lbs for $297.50
The barn posted the top two all-time 7-weight sales and now holds three of the top 10 ever recorded in that weight class. Tuesdayโs action also produced the top four sales all-time at Beaver County for both 9- and 10-weight steers. Nationally, the 10-weight sales ranked 3rd, 4th, and 5th all-time.
OKC West (El Reno, OK) delivered a record-setting performance on Tuesday, notching new all-time highs for 3-, 4-, and 5-weight steers. Topping the charts were 18 head at 326 lbs selling for $540.00, 59 head at 488 lbs at $490.00, and 44 head at 528 lbs fetching $420.00. The barn also saw a major move in the 6-weight category, with 61 head at 617 lbs selling for $377.50 โ the second-highest 6-weight price ever recorded at OKC West.
Flint Hills Stockyards (Saint Marys, KS) had an outstanding Tuesday, setting new all-time highs for both 9- and 10-weight steers. Leading the charge were 60 head at 916 lbs selling for $318.85 and 110 head at 1,046 lbs bringing $291.25. The barn didnโt stop there โ Tuesdayโs run also accounted for five of the top 10 highest 9-weight prices ever recorded at Flint Hills, marking one of the most impressive heavyweight sales in its history.

Futures surged higher on Tuesday, with August Feeder Cattle closing at $319.125, up $5.40 on the day. The CME contract now sits nearly $3 above the 7-day RTI Feeder Index, which rose $2.79 to $316.33. Meanwhile, the National Steer Price continues to outpace both, jumping $8.11 to $324.57 โ maintaining a strong premium over futures and reflecting continued cash market strength.

On Tuesday, Kimball Livestock Exchange (Kimball, SD) posted the largest cattle sale in the country with 3,404 head. Beaver County Stockyards (Beaver, OK) followed with 2,415 head, and OKC West (El Reno, OK) reported 1,473 head. Ozarks Regional Stockyards (West Plains, MO) and Interstate Regional Stockyards (Cuba, MO) rounded out the top five with 1,314 and 1,276 head, respectively. Feeder receipts were up 118% from last Tuesday.
