OKC West (El Reno, OK) had one of the most remarkable weeks in its history, setting 15 new barn records on Wednesday alone, bringing the weekly total to 26 all-time highs. New records were established across key weight classes, including the 5-, 7-, 8-, 9-, and 10-weight steer categories.

The 5-weights had their strongest performance ever at the barn, with 8 of the top 10 all-time prices set this week, led by a sale of 36 head at 575 lbs for $435.00. In the 8-weight class, 4 of the top 10 all-time sales occurred this week, including a new number one — 24 head at 802 lbs sold for $340.00. Additionally, OKC West set a new all-time record for 10-weights with 110 head at 1,011 lbs selling for $308.50.

Stockmens set multiple barn and national records during a historic sale. Leading the way was a standout trade of 79 head at 820 lbs for $366.00, setting a new all-time high for 8-weights at the barn and the highest 8-weight price ever recorded in U.S. history. Another milestone came with the sale of 36 head at 703 lbs for $387.00, establishing a new barn record for 7-weights and ranking as the 3rd highest 7-weight price nationally. Additionally, Stockmens sold the top 8 highest-priced 10-weight steers in barn history, making it one of the most impressive single-day performances ever recorded.

Hub City Livestock (Aberdeen, SD) also delivered a milestone sale, setting several barn and national records. The standout sale of 60 head at 922 lbs for $344.00 set a new U.S. record for the highest-priced 9-weight steers. In the 8-weight division, 45 head at 827 lbs brought $350.00, a new barn record and the 5th highest 8-weight sale nationally. Hub City also posted a new all-time high for 10-weights, with 50 head at 1,019 lbs selling for $315.50, ranking as the 10th highest 10-weight price in U.S. history.


JC Livestock Sales (Junction City, KS) had a standout performance on Wednesday, setting 18 new barn records, including all-time highs in the 4-, 5-, 6-, 7-, 8-, and 9-weight steer categories. A key highlight came in the 9-weight class, where 57 head at 965 lbs sold for $318.50, establishing a new barn record.

Emporia Livestock (Emporia, KS) set multiple barn records on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, with historic sales across key weight classes. The sale of 45 head at 822 lbs for $346.50 and 37 head at 825 lbs for $345.00 now stand as the top two highest-priced 8-weights in barn history. The 822-lb group also ranks as the 10th highest 8-weight sale nationally of all time.

On Wednesday, feeder cattle futures and cash markets stayed closely aligned. The August CME Feeder Cattle contract closed at $338.95, up $2.75 on the day. The RTI 7-Day Feeder Index rose $2.49 to $335.20, maintaining a $3.75 discount to the board. The National Steer Price came in at $338.85, up $2.39, ending the day just $0.10 below the futures close. This tight convergence highlights firm demand and strong price support across both the futures and cash feeder cattle markets.

The largest feeder cattle sales on Wednesday were led by OKC West (El Reno, OK) with 3,695 head, followed closely by Stockmens (Yankton, SD) at 3,634 head. JC (Junction City, KS) reported 1,262 head, Winfield (Winfield, KS) sold 1,223 head, and Hub City (Aberdeen, SD) recorded 987 head.  Receipts on Wednesday were down 4% from last Wednesday.

Several additional sales at or above $420.00 per cwt confirmed the strength and consistency of the market, making this the most dominant performance for 500–599 lb cattle the barn has ever recorded.
