Joplin Regional Stockyards had a strong sale Monday, setting 19 new barn records, including all-time highs in both the 7- and 8-weight steer divisions. This impressive performance came despite receipts totaling 4,710 head, down 16% from the previous week. The 8-weights were the highlight, posting six of the top ten highest prices ever at the barn, with four new all-time records: 85 head at 808 lbs brought $334.00, 97 head at 830 lbs sold for $333.00, 12 head at 838 lbs brought $330.00, and 26 head at 834 lbs brought $329.00.

The 7-weight class was equally historic, with five top-ten all-time prices set on the day. The standout was 11 head at 718 lbs that brought $360.00, the highest price ever recorded for that weight at Joplin.  In the heavy cattle, 245 head at 942 lbs brought $315.50β€”now the second-highest 9-weight price ever at the barn, third-highest in Missouri history, and third nationally for groups over 200 head. A 10-weight draft of 50 head at 1,025 lbs sold for $299.00, ranking second all-time both at the barn and in the state.

Gainesville Livestock Auction kicked off the week with one of the strongest sales in barn history, setting 16 new barn records on Monday, including all-time highs in the 4-, 5-, 6-, 7-, and 8-weight divisions. The 7-weights were led by a standout sale of 68 head at 794 lbs bringing $338.25β€”a new all-time record for that class at Gainesville.  The 8-weight category was on fire, accounting for five of the top records set on the day, including the top four prices ever recorded at the barn. Leading the charge was 59 head at 834 lbs selling for $329.00, followed by 29 head at 835 lbs for $318.00, 33 head at 898 lbs for $313.75, and 59 head at 879 lbs bringing $310.75. Gainesville launched the week on a high note with historic strength across all key weight classes.

Overbrook Livestock Commission had an excellent sale on Monday, setting nine new barn records, including all-time highs in the 5-, 6-, 7-, 8-, and 9-weight classes. The highlight in the 8-weight division was a draft of 99 head at 825 lbs bringing $337.00β€”the highest 8-weight price ever recorded at the barn.   The 9-weight category was equally strong, with three record-setting sales: 39 head at 923 lbs sold for $323.75, 61 head at 903 lbs brought $322.00, and 62 head at 998 lbs reached $308.75, all marking new all-time highs for that class.

Feeder cattle futures closed firm on Monday, with the August CME contract ending at $333.53, up $2.15. That places the board slightly ahead of the RTI 7-day Feeder Index at $331.61 (up $1.66), while the National Steer Price eased to $330.86, down $3.73. Since closing at $324.00 on July 18, the August contract has gained $9.53, including a steady climb from $328.90 last Thursday.

Feeder cattle sales on Monday were led by Joplin (Carthage, MO) with 4,748 head. Gainesville (Gainesville, MO) reported 1,114 head, followed by BG Lexington (Lexington, KY) with 856 head. Tina (Tina, MO) totaled 791 head, and Equity Cooperative in Monroe, WI, reported 523 head.   Receipts were down 22% from last Monday.

Additional record-breaking sales included 12 head at 838 lbs at $330.00 and 26 head at 834 lbs bringing $329.00. The barn also saw 33 head at 849 lbs and 16 head at 832 lbs each bring $326.00, securing their place among the top ten highest 8-weight sales in Joplin history.
