The national feeder cattle market remained red hot on Tuesday, especially for heavier weight classes, with all-time record highs set for the weighted average prices in the 800–899, 900–999, and 1,000–1,099 lb categories. Prices reached $325.79 for 8-weights, $319.39 for 9-weights, and $305.53 for 10-weights—levels once thought nearly unattainable. Records were set across the country, reflecting exceptional strength and broad-based demand in the heavyweight feeder market.

Beaver County Stockyards (Beaver, OK) blew the top off the record books on Tuesday, setting an incredible 30 new barn records across multiple weight classes, including all-time highs for 4-, 7-, 8-, 9-, and 10-weight steers—marking one of the most dominant single-day market performances in the barn’s history. Highlights included 18 head at 748 lbs bringing $364.00/cwt, the highest 7-weight price on Tuesday and one of the Top 5 all-time; 18 head at 829 lbs at $333.50/cwt, a new all-time high for 8-weights and one of six new Top 10 sales in that class; and 15 head at 1,031 lbs bringing $312.00/cwt, the highest 10-weight ever sold at the barn. But the biggest headline came from the 9-weights, where all 10 of the top 10 highest-priced sales in Beaver County history were set in a single day, led by 49 head at 900 lbs selling for a record $327.00/cwt.

Fairview Livestock Commission Company (Fairview, OK) had an outstanding sale Tuesday, setting six new barn records across multiple weight classes. A new all-time high was set for 10-weight steers, with 13 head at 1,003 lbs bringing $298.00/cwt. In the 9-weight category, 55 head at 925 lbs sold for $315.00, and 53 head at 975 lbs brought $311.85, ranking 3rd and 5th all-time at the barn.  Additional highlights included 17 head at 788 lbs selling for $325.00 (5th all-time for 7-weights), 12 head at 658 lbs at $372.00 (2nd all-time for 6-weights), and 17 head at 571 lbs at $382.50 (4th all-time for 5-weights). 

Kimball Livestock (Kimball, SD) posted another outstanding sale on Tuesday, setting 10 new barn records, including all-time highs for 5-, 9-, and 10-weight steers. Leading the way was a powerful string of 238 head at 1,078 lbs bringing $314.50/cwt, now the highest 10-weight sale in barn history. In the 9-weight category, 55 head at 922 lbs sold for a record $324.00, while 69 head at 567 lbs brought $444.50, setting a new mark for 5-weights. It was a banner day in Kimball with strong demand and exceptional quality driving the market.

Unionville Livestock Market (Unionville, MO) had a record-setting day on Tuesday, posting 14 new barn records, including all-time highs for both 6- and 10-weight steers. The standout sales included 12 head at 600 lbs bringing $425.00/cwt and 29 head at 1,010 lbs at $296.00/cwt. But it was the 8-weight steers that stole the spotlight, as seven of the top ten highest-priced 8-weight sales in barn history were set during the session—highlighting the exceptional demand and competitive bidding throughout the sale.

Feeder cattle futures edged higher Tuesday, with the August CME contract closing at $328.275, up $0.675 on the day. The RTI 7-day Feeder Index climbed $1.51 to $328.25, nearly matching the board. Meanwhile, the National Steer Price jumped $4.70 to $331.44, extending its premium over both the index and futures. The alignment of futures and index prices, paired with a strong cash advance, reflects continued support in the feeder market.

The largest cattle sales on Tuesday were led by Beaver County (Beaver, OK) with 3,453 head. Kimball (Kimball, SD) followed with 2,321 head, while Turlock (Turlock, CA) reported 2,121 head. Both OKC West (El Reno, OK) and Stockmens (Yankton, SD) each recorded 1,954 head.  Receipts on Tuesday were down 4% from last Tuesday.

Beaver County Stockyards (Beaver, OK) made history on Tuesday as all ten of the highest-priced 9-weight steer sales in barn history were set in a single day. Leading the charge was a standout draft of 49 head at 900 lbs that brought $327.00/cwt, followed closely by several other powerful loads, including 10 head at 911 lbs at $326.50 and 111 head at 918 lbs at $324.25. With prices ranging from $318.00 to $327.00, the 9-weight class dominated the sale and rewrote the barn’s record books from top to bottom.
