Joplin Regional Stockyards kicked off the week in historic fashion, setting 28 new barn records on Monday, including all-time highs for 3-, 6-, 7-, and 9-weight steers. The biggest surge came in the 7- and 8-weight categories, where records fell in rapid succession. Leading the 7-weights, 62 head at 716 lbs brought $372.00, followed by 68 head at 714 lbs and 13 head at 703 lbs, both at $365.00, and several others above $360.00. These now stand as the top five 7-weights in barn history.
In the 8-weight division, 33 head at 819 lbs reached $346.00, 67 head at 847 lbs brought $344.00, and two other drafts surpassed $340.00βall ranking among the top four 8-weights ever sold at Joplin. Remarkably, 8 of the top 10 all-time 8-weight sales were set during this single sale. Additionally, a standout group of 10 head of thin steers weighing 302 lbs sold for $600.00/cwt, adding to the historic nature of the day.
Sioux Falls Regional Livestock had an exceptional day on Monday, highlighted by several record-setting sales. A massive draft of 517 head weighing 964 lbs sold for $318.50, now ranking as the second-highest 9-weight sale in barn history. In the 10-weight class, 50 head at 1,028 lbs brought $314.50, and 325 head at 1,069 lbs sold for $306.25βnow standing as the top two all-time sales for 10-weights at the barn. Additionally, a group of 39 head at 738 lbs brought $380.00, setting a new all-time high for 7-weights at Sioux Falls.
Callaway Livestock Center had an outstanding Monday, setting 14 new barn records and establishing new all-time highs for 5-, 6-, and 8-weight steers. The sale was highlighted by two impressive 8-weight drafts: 60 head at 855 lbs bringing $344.75 and 52 head at 886 lbs at $340.25, now ranking #1 and #2 all-time at Callaway, and #3 and #6 in Missouri. In the 6-weight class, three standout groupsβ20 head at 618 lbs for $424.00, 11 head at 608 lbs for $421.75, and 24 head at 612 lbs for $415.75βnow rank as the top 3 six-weights in barn history, and #4, #5, and #9 statewide.
Olean Regional Stockyards (Eldon, MO) kicked off the week with a strong showing on Monday, posting new all-time highs across multiple weight classes. Leading the way was a standout group of 13 head at 385 lbs bringing $502.50/cwt, setting a new barn record for 3-weight steers. Also hitting record territory were 25 head at 489 lbs for $461.00/cwt in the 4-weight category, and 11 head at 703 lbs bringing $348.25/cwt to top the 7-weight class.
On Monday, CME Feeder Cattle (August) futures settled at $335.40, up $0.825 on the day. In comparison, the RTI 7-day Feeder Index came in at $338.02, up $0.862, maintaining a slight premium of $2.62 over the August futures. Meanwhile, the National Steer Price dropped sharply to $334.99, down $5.54, placing it just below the futures level.

On Monday, feeder cattle receipts were led by Joplin (Carthage, MO) with 8,019 head. Sioux Falls (Worthing, SD) followed with 1,904, while Callaway (Kingdom City, MO) reported 1,519 head. National (Oklahoma City, OK) totaled 1,470, and Gainesville (Gainesville, MO) had 998 head. Receipts on Monday were up 48% from last Monday.
