Farmers & Ranchers Livestock in Salina, KS saw a powerful run of 9-weight steers on Thursday, July 31, 2025, setting multiple all-time records for the barn. The top sale featured 48 head at 953 lbs bringing $328.50/cwt, the highest 9-weight price ever recorded at Farmers & Ranchers. Close behind, 133 head at 937 lbs sold for $328.25/cwt, and 121 head at 903 lbs brought $327.00/cwt, tying with another lot of 15 head at 920 lbs. Rounding out the high sellers, 74 head at 924 lbs sold for $326.00/cwt. All five sales occurred on the same day, marking one of the strongest showings for heavy feeders in the marketβs history.
Enid Livestock Market had an outstanding day on Thursday, July 31, despite a sharp drop in the futures market. A total of 17 barn records were broken, highlighting the strength of the local cash trade. New all-time highs were set for 3-, 5-, 7-, 8-, and 9-weight classes. Leading the way, a group of 33 head weighing 788 lbs brought $356.00/cwt, setting a new barn record for 7-weights.
Another standout was 32 head at 804 lbs, selling for $349.50/cwt, a new barn high for 8-weights and the second-highest 8-weight price in Oklahoma history. In fact, 5 of the 10 highest 8-weight prices ever recorded at Enid were set during Thursday's sale. Lighter cattle were equally strong, with 28 head averaging 393 lbs bringing $545.00/cwt, marking a new barn record for 3-weights and the third-highest 3-weight sale in Oklahoma history.
Paris Stockyards in Paris, KY had a strong showing on Thursday, July 31, 2025, with several standout lots across multiple weight classes. In the 5-weight division, 34 head at 530 lbs sold for $425.00/cwt and 14 head at 529 lbs brought $419.00/cwt, now ranking as the first and second highest 5-weight prices in barn history. The 6-weight cattle also performed well, with 17 head at 643 lbs bringing $399.00/cwt and 18 head at 635 lbs at $389.00/cwt, which now stand as the top two 6-weight sales ever recorded at the barn. Additionally, 11 head at 727 lbs sold for $371.00/cwt, setting a new barn high for 7-weights.
Feeder cattle futures saw a sharp decline on Thursday, with the August CME contract closing at $331.375, down $7.575 on the day. Despite the futures setback, the cash market remained firm. The RTI 7-Day Feeder Index edged up $0.78 to $335.98, holding a premium over futures. Meanwhile, the National Steer Price rose $2.04 to $340.59, setting a new all-time high and reflecting continued strength in the cash trade despite broader market pressure.

Receipts on Thursday were down 8% from last Thursday.

Close behind, 25 head at 827 lbs sold for $340.00/cwt, also securing a spot in the top two all-time prices at the barn. Additional top-tier sales from the day included 109 head at 818 lbs for $335.00, 23 head at 834 lbs at $332.50, and 19 head at 862 lbs for $324.50.
