CLARA LIVE:   🔥 📈 Best Day Ever for 8-Wts: Top 6 All-Time Set Wednesday | OKC West Sets 24 Barn Records 🐂🔥

Eight-weights dominated the market again on Wednesday, making up 31% of steer receipts and averaging $322.13/cwt, just $0.16 shy of Tuesday’s all-time record. It was a historic day for the class, with 7 of the top 10 highest 8-weight prices ever recorded nationally set during the session—including the top 6 of all time.

OKC West wrapped up another historic week, setting 24 new barn records during its two-day sale. All-time highs were posted across the 6-, 7-, 8-, and 9-weight categories, continuing a two-week streak where every weight class except the 10-weights has rewritten its top 10 list. The highlight was the 7-weights, which dominated the sale—setting seven of the top ten highest prices ever recorded at the barn, including the top six of all time. The streak cements OKC West’s position at the center of a red-hot summer feeder market.

Hub City Livestock (Aberdeen, SD) closed out another outstanding week, setting 13 new barn records, including all-time highs in the 7-, 8-, and 10-weight categories, along with 3 national records. Highlights included 70 head at 827 lbs for $341.25/cwt, now 4th all-time nationally for 8-weights, and two 10-weight sales: 57 head at 1,007 lbs for $311.25/cwt and 60 head at 1,001 lbs for $308.25/cwt, ranking 3rd and 5th nationally, respectively.

Feeder cattle futures rallied sharply on Wednesday, with the August CME contract jumping $3.30 to $325.575/cwt, marking a strong continuation of this week’s upward trend. The RTI Feeder Index rose $0.77 to $322.53, while the National Steer Price surged another $2.78 to $328.98, extending its premium over both futures and the index. The tight basis and rising cash indicate persistent demand strength and confidence in the feeder market heading into the second half of July.
