In 2024, China remained the dominant force in global beef imports, bringing in a staggering 8.32 billion pounds, more than any other country by a wide margin. The United States followed as the second-largest importer with 4.38 billion pounds, reflecting strong domestic demand despite being the world’s largest producer. Japan and South Korea ranked third and fourth, importing 1.60 and 1.26 billion pounds respectively, driven by limited domestic supply and high consumer preference for beef. Other notable importers included the United Kingdom, European Union, and Chile, each exceeding 0.75 billion pounds. Rounding out the top ten were Russia, Canada, and Saudi Arabia, all contributing to a global import landscape shaped by shifting demand, trade policy, and consumer trends.
