Argentina Beef Production (lbs)

2024 – 6,834,322,000

2023 – 7,231,153,600

2022 – 6,922,506,800

2021 – 6,613,860,000

2020 – 6,988,645,400

Argentina’s beef production chart highlights a dramatic shift in the country’s cattle industry. In 2009, production hit an all-time high, but that peak was immediately followed by a sharp decline driven by severe drought and a major herd liquidation phase. As pastures dried up and feed costs rose, producers were forced to reduce herds, including breeding stock, which led to reduced calf crops in 2009 and 2010. From 2010 to 2012, production remained below 6 billion pounds—the lowest levels since 2002. Although there was a slight recovery in 2013 to 6.28 billion pounds, output dipped again the next year. Since 2017, however, production has steadily improved, consistently staying above 6 billion pounds and exceeding 7 billion in 2023. This rebound reflects herd rebuilding efforts, better weather, and improved market conditions that have supported stronger, more stable beef output in recent years.
