On Thursday, federally inspected cattle slaughter totaled 105,000 head, down from 117,000 the previous week and 122,128 on the same day a year ago. Week-to-date slaughter reached 452,000 head, slightly ahead of last week's 451,000 but trailing the year-ago total of 474,819. Year-to-date cattle slaughter stands at 14,470,305 head, down 6.3% compared to 15,440,272 at this time in 2024.
