CLARA LIVE: 🎉 The feeder market is showing solid strength this morning at Sioux Falls Regional Livestock in Worthing, SD. A new all-time high was set for 3-weight steers as 14 head averaging 357 lbs sold for $545.00/cwt. In the 5-weight category, 15 head at 535 lbs brought $437.50/cwt, the second-highest price on record for that class. Meanwhile, 28 head weighing 658 lbs sold at $385.00/cwt, marking the third-highest 6-weight sale all time at the barn.

As of Friday afternoon, negotiated cash trade has been moderate on good demand in Kansas, with live sales trending $4.00 to $5.00 higher than last week, ranging from $228.00 to $230.00. In Nebraska, trade has also been moderate on good demand, with live purchases jumping $8.00 to $10.00 higher at $240.00, while dressed sales remain steady at $380.00, matching Thursday’s levels. USDA reported 115,000 head of cattle slaughtered on Thursday, up from 112,000 the previous week but down from 122,678 a year ago. Week-to-date (WTD) slaughter stands at 464,000, compared to 472,000 last week and 479,228 during the same week in 2024. Year-to-date (YTD) cattle slaughter totals 15,515,803, down 6.4% from 16,576,572 at this point in 2024.
