LIVESTOCK, DAIRY & POULTRY OUTLOOK (WASDE): Cattle price forecasts for 2025 are raised on recent price strength and continued demand for cattle. The increased price forecasts are carried over into 2026 as well.

Orland (Orland, CA) reported 1,675 head, and Paris KY (Paris, KY) totaled 1,304 head. Receipts were up 8% from last Thursday, marking the first day this week with higher volume compared to the same day a week ago.

On Thursday, cattle slaughter totaled 115,000 head, which is a decrease from 120,000 head on the previous Thursday and lower than the 121,897 head recorded on the same day a year ago. Week-to-date slaughter reached 456,000 head, trailing both last week's total of 477,000 head and the 488,969 head from the same week in 2024. Year-to-date, 13,354,724 head of cattle have been processed, representing a 6.1% decline from the 14,223,762 head slaughtered by this point last year.
