National Weather Forecast
A multi-day storm system continues to impact the south-central U.S., with severe thunderstorms and excessive rainfall threatening operations across key cattle-producing states. Today, the most intense weather is focused along the Red River Valley into western Arkansas, where flash flooding remains a major concern. Scattered severe storms are also expected across north-central Texas into the ArkLaTex region, with threats including very large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes, some potentially strong.
This system is part of a broader stalled frontal boundary interacting with upper-level energy from the southern Rockies, fueling rounds of heavy precipitation. By Thursday, this system will shift eastward into the Mid-Mississippi, Ohio, and Tennessee Valleys, reducing flood risk in the Southern Plains but transferring storm threats eastward. However, the south-central Plains will face renewed storm risks early Friday as another disturbance arrives. Flash flooding, delayed fieldwork, and transport disruptions remain elevated concerns.
