U.S. Senators Mike Rounds (R-SD) and Tina Smith (D-MN) are inviting all other Senators and Representatives to join their bipartisan food crisis letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland calling for immediate action to address:

  • Lack of country-of-origin labeling (COOL) on beef
  • Antitrust concerns in consumer beef markets and cattle markets
  • Negative impacts of concentration and consolidation in the beef market
  • Negative impacts of imports on the domestic beef supply chain
  • Insufficient number of beef processing plants

Please contact your two U.S. Senators and your Representative at 202-224-3121 and urge them to join the Rounds/Smith joint letter that calls for fixing America’s broken beef supply chain by May 31, 2021.

Suggested Message:

“Hi, I’m [Name] from [City] and I urge you to join the Rounds/Smith food crisis letter concerning the serious problems in our beef supply chain by May 31.  I am a [cattle producer or consumer] and I am counting on you to support this letter, and so is all of America.”

If you have already made your calls, then ask someone you know to also make calls too. Your friend, relative, in-law, co-worker, hired hand or neighbor very likely would like to help they just haven’t been asked yet. You must CALL AND ASK THEM!

Thank you for your help!
